Assessment
- Members of the assessment committee focus upon the practice
and reporting of student assessment at Pensacola State College, including assessment
of global learning outcomes. The committee creates an
annual report on GLO assessment, sponsors workshops on formative
and evaluativ e assessment processes, and may create instruments
for faculty self-assessment.

Athletics - In keeping
with the standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the
intercollegiate athletics program is under the oversight of a committee of
faculty, staff and students. The committee will make recommendations as needed
on policy matters and will review budgets, and scholarship allocations among the
various sports. Minutes of the meetings are kept in the office of Director of
Athletics.

Black History - The Pensacola
State College Black History Committee welcomes all Pensacola
State College
employees to join the committee. The committee plans an annual calendar of
events for faculty, staff and students. In addition to programs which highlight
African American history and heritage, the committee also collaborates with
other Pensacola State College departments and community organizations to showcase and promote events
for Women's History Month, Hispanic and Native American Heritage Month, National
Pacific Islander Month, and various educational and cultural events.

Bright
Ideas - The Pensacola State College Bright Ideas Committee will be charged with
developing, maintaining and monitoring a structured program which will allow Pensacola
State College
to gather cost-saving, time-saving, safety-improvement, and customer service
ideas from Pensacola State College employees and take advantage of the tremendous untapped reservoir
of knowledge in our own back yard.

Career Service
Activities - This committee plans activities for career service
employees, including group-oriented In service training for their professional
and personal development. Minutes of the meetings are kept in the office of the
Dean of Precollegiate Studies.

Distance Learning -
The
Distance Learning Committee is charged with supporting the Director of
Distributed Learning in the formulation of Pensacola State College policies and procedures relevant
to distance learning and related areas.

Financial Literacy - This
committee will explore, recommend and implement strategies
designed to increase the financial literacy of Pensacola State
College students. It will also strive to increase the
awareness of the importance of financial literacy within the
Pensacola State College community, in order to continuously
improve persistence, retention and graduation rates, as well as
improve the financial health of the community at large.

Legends -
The Legends Committee is composed of employees
at Pensacola
State College who
plan and arrange the recognition of employees with 25 years
service. Legends
recognizes that outstanding length of service to the college involves a loyalty
and dedication that is demonstrated through commitment and accrued experience.
(Having been inducted into Legends is not a criterion for serving on this
committee).

Library -
Faculty, staff, and students are invited to serve on the Library
Committee. The mission of the Committee is, a) to communicate the faculty and
student's teaching and learning needs to the Library, b) to
aid the District Libraries to find ways to meet those needs, c) to communicate
information to the faculty about Library services and resources that are
available to faculty and students, and d) to assist the District Learning
Resources in meeting program and College accreditation standards.

Lyceum - The committee assists in
identifying events and personalities for the Lyceum series.

Scholarship Policy -
This committee is charged with reviewing and recommending to the President broad
operational policies regarding the college's scholarship program.

Selection - In keeping with the college policies and scholarship
criteria, this committee is responsible for the selection of qualified students
for available scholarships.

Special Populations -
This
committee is composed of faculty and staff who have experience in representing
members of special populations as defined in the Carl Perkins Vocational and
Technical Education Act of 1998 (i.e., single parents, displaced homemakers,
individuals training for nontraditional employment, individuals from
economically disadvantaged families, individuals with disabilities, and
individuals with limited English proficiency.) The committee members will
provide insight and suggestions for program and service delivery improvements,
foster awareness of the needs of vocational special population students, and
provide program feedback for evaluation and improvements.

Staff and Program
Development - The SPD Committee is composed of faculty, career service,
professional, and administrative staff and is charged with assisting the
Director of Staff and Program Development with planning, coordinating, and
implementing professional activities for all Pensacola State College employees. The SPD
Committee also reviews special SPD funding requests when required. Members
of the SPD committee may serve for a period of two years. Current
officers: Chair, Robb Gregg; Charles Knight, Vice Chair, Administrative Liaison, Juanita Scott;
Secretary, Renay Pierre-Robinson.

Student Academic
Appeals - This committee is responsible for judging appeals from
students on academic matters not specifically addressed by the college catalog,
and appeals requesting exceptions from established college policies.

Student
Excellence Awards - The committee selects students to be recognized for
leadership, scholarship, and service to the college. The committee is
responsible for coordinating the activities of the Student Awards and
Recognition Day Celebration, printing of the program, and the purchasing and
preparation of the awards.

Student Publications
-This committee acts as an advisory body for various college publications. It
assists in helping responsible persons make out budgets, choose student editors
and, in general, help the publications fulfill their responsibility to students,
the college, and the community.
"On Call" Committees
The following functions, formerly performed by standing
committees, will now be carried out by a pool of interested faculty who will
serve on an "on call" basis.
Student/Faculty
Hearing Panel - The panel adjudicates student disciplinary cases
involving alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct or Honor Pledge.
Cases are referred to the Director of Student Life who is also responsible for
keeping the minutes of the meetings.

Ad Hoc Committees
The following committees are comprised of administrative and
career service personnel. Although faculty may not serve as voting members of
these committees, faculty will be appointed to observe and participate in all
deliberations. As is true with standing committees, members are appointed
annually by the President. Ad Hoc Committees follow the same operation and
procedural guidelines as standing committees.
Benefits - This committee
recommends to the President insurance programs and other benefits for the
full-time administrative, faculty, and career service employees. Minutes of the
meetings are kept in the office of Director of Human Resources.
